NEW CANANDAIGUA TOWN MANAGER APPOINTED

(Canandaigua, NY) – The Town Board of the Town of Canandaigua has announced the appointment of Douglas E. Finch as the first Town of Canandaigua, Town Manager.

“I consider it an incredible honor to be able to serve the residents of the Town of Canandaigua as their first Town Manager,” said Doug Finch.  “Canandaigua is a wonderful community that is second to none in terms of quality of life.  Providing a strong commitment to public service, placing an emphasis on balanced development, preservation of our natural resources, and transparency and response to our citizens will continue to be my commitment to the Town Board and the residents of the Town of Canandaigua.”

Finch has an extensive background in state and local government service to the area.  Since 2014, Finch has served as the Town of Canandaigua’s Director of Development, Grant Administrator, Minority and Women Business Officer (MWBO), and most recently as Budget Officer.  Previously, Finch held elected office as a City of Canandaigua Councilmember at Large, and served as chief of staff to NYS Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb from 2003 – 2014.  Finch’s education includes a Master’s degree in Public Administration, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

“The Town Board and the general public have been actively engaged in the process to create the position of Town Manager over the past number of months,” said Town Supervisor Greg Westbrook.  “We are extremely fortunate that we have an internal person who possesses the knowledge, experience, and education and is already up to speed on day-to-day operations of the entire Town resulting in a seamless transition.”

Finch begins serving as the Town Manager effective immediately, while the position of Director of Development will remain unfilled and operations handled by the Town Manager.  It was important to the Town Board to make these changes and create an outcome with a budget neutral position.
