On or about May 14th & May 15th, 2024 the Town of Canandaigua Highway Department will be performing construction work on Middle Cheshire Road. The Town will be removing up to two inches of asphalt starting at the intersection of Whitecliff Drive and ending at State Rt. 5 & 20. The road will have alternating one way traffice while construction is taking place.
Once the asphalt is removed and the road cleaned, new asphalt will be placed on Middle Cheshire Road on May 20th, and 21st. During the placement of asphalt on the road you may experience wait times or delays in leaving your driveway until the roller has completed the compaction of the new asphalt.
We ask for your patience and understanding during the construction. Please plan accordingly for extra time when planning to travel. The dates may also change for the paving due to any rain in the forecast/inclement weather.
Please contact our office at (585) 394-3300 or via email at highway@townofcanandaigua.org, with any questions or concerns.
Safety Reminder: Do not follow town trucks or plows too closely. Keep a safe distance behind any large vehicle. If you cannot see their side mirrors, they cannot see you.
Highway Department employee hours are 6:00am - 4:30pm, Monday-Thursday.
The Town of Canandaigua Highway Department is responsible for the general maintenance of all the town-dedicated roads. This includes ditching, paving, tree and brush removal in the town's right-of-way, mowing roadsides and plowing and ice
control during the winter months. In the spring and summer months we oil and stone roads, replace culverts, clean ditches and pave roads.
Superintendent Jim Fletcher coordinates the work for the crews and oversees the Highway, Water and Waste/Recycling Departments. He also works closely with the Director of Parks and Recreation on Park Maintenance.
