TOWN OF CANANDAIGUA BOARD VACANCIES
(Canandaigua, NY) - The Town of Canandaigua is seeking residents who are interested in serving the Town in the following appointed vacancies:
- Town Board
- Planning Board
- Environmental Conservation Board
- Board of Assessment Review
All positions will begin in 2022. Details of each vacancy are below.
Town Board
The Town Board of the Town of Canandaigua is interested in hearing from residents (electors) of the Town of Canandaigua who might be interested in serving on the Town Board of the Town of Canandaigua. The Town Board will be considering the temporary appointment of an individual to a Town Board seat for the calendar year 2022. The Town Board anticipates the residents of the Town of Canandaigua will elect an individual to serve on the Town Board in November 2022, relating to this position.
The Town of Canandaigua 2022 Town Board consists of Town Supervisor‐elect Jared Simpson, Town Board members Terry Fennelly and Gary Davis, and Town Board member‐elect Adeline C. Rudolph. The Town Board of the Town of Canandaigua is the governing body of the Town of Canandaigua which determines all policies and financial decisions for the Town of Canandaigua. Training will be provided. Town Board positions are paid at an annual rate of $5,371 for 2022.

The Town Board is anticipated to conduct interviews with certain interested individuals in early January 2022 with possible appointment. Planning Board
The role of the Planning Board (PB) is to review project applications for compliance with town code and to ensure the project adheres to sound planning practices that are in keeping with the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and several other adopted documents relating to open space and environmental protection, parks and recreation, history, agriculture, complete streets, water, and sewer. Interested candidates should have a background in or an understanding of code language and land use planning. The PB has two vacancies: one regular member position which receives a stipend that is paid quarterly, and another alternate board member position, which is an unpaid, volunteer position that serves when a regular member is unable to attend a meeting. Environmental Conservation Board
The Environmental Conservation Board (ECB) assists the Town Board with public awareness and education regarding the Town of Canandaigua’s natural resources and routinely reviews development projects in the Town of Canandaigua for potential impacts to natural resource protection. ECB members are involved in planning ECB meetings, project reviews, public workshops or events, etc. Applicants having a background in conservation, natural resource management, land use planning, or a related field are strongly encouraged to apply. ECB members receive a stipend that is paid quarterly. Board of Assessment Review
The Board of Assessment Review (BAR) consists of five members of the community that meet annually on Grievance Day (4th Tuesday in May) to hear property owner complaints relating to their assessment.
Qualifications:
Must have knowledge of property values
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be a property owner in the Town of Canandaigua
Must be a resident (elector) of the Town of Canandaigua
Must take and file an oath of office
Must complete necessary training
Must be available for Grievance Day each year, held on the 4th Tuesday in May
