Welcome to the Development Office
The Development Office is the primary office for the Town of Canandaigua Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Environmental Conservation Board, Citizens’ Implementation Committee, Code Enforcement, Zoning Office, Fire Inspections, Building Code, Economic Development, and the implementation practices of the Comprehensive Plan of the Town of Canandaigua.
As identified in the Town of Canandaigua’s Comprehensive Plan, our vision statement is defined: “On behalf of the current and future generation, the Town of Canandaigua will strive to maintain its small Town rural character and beauty by protecting its natural, scenic, historic and cultural resources and providing needed community services along with opportunities for sustainable economic development.”
To achieve all that, The Development Office assists residents, businesses, and developers with a variety of activities. Our staff routinely meets with individuals interested in opening a new business, building a new home, agricultural operations, natural resource protection, planning for future development, conservation, and much more. Our Development Office Team will help guide you through the approval process from start to finish.
Our office also processes applications for the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. We meet with property owners and builders to review applicable Town zoning and development regulations and the requirements of the State building code that may affect your project. Our overall objective is to assist you in understanding the requirements that may affect your project and advise you on how to obtain the needed Town approvals so you can properly proceed with your project as safely and quickly as possible.
