Town of Canandaigua residents that were impacted by the storm this past weekend can bring thier brush to the highway facility Monday July 1st & Tuesday July 2nd from 7 am to 4 pm and Wednesday July 3rd from 7 am to 8 pm.
Only RESIDENTIAL brush & debris will be accepted. Please be sure to have your yellow 2024 Transfer Station hang tag upon arrival. Please contact the Highway Department at (585) 394-3300 or highway@townofcanandaigua.org with any questions.

TOWN OF CANANDAIGUA BOARD & COMMITTEE VACANCIES

(Canandaigua, NY) - The Town of Canandaigua is seeking residents who are interested in serving the Town in the following appointed vacancies:

  • Planning Board
  • Zoning Board of Appeals
  • Environmental Conservation Board
  • Parks and Recreation Committee

All positions will begin in 2023. Details of each vacancy are below.

Planning Board-Alternate

The role of the Planning Board (PB) is to review project applications for compliance with town code and to ensure the project adheres to sound planning practices that are in keeping with the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and several other adopted documents relating to open space and environmental protection, parks and recreation, history, agriculture, complete streets, water, and sewer. Interested candidates should have a background in or an understanding of code language and land use planning.  The PB one vacancy: Alternate board member position, which is paid $68.00 per voting meeting, that serves when a regular member is unable to attend a meeting. Zoning Board of Appeals- Alternate

The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) shall hear and decide appeals and requests for variances from the requirements of the Zoning Chapter of the Canandaigua Town Code. The ZBA shall hear and decide appeals when it is alleged there is an error in any requirements, decisions, determination made by the Local Administrator in the enforcement or administration of the Zoning Chapter of the Code. Interested candidates should have a background in or an understanding of code language and land use planning. 

The ZBA has one vacancy: Alternate board member position, which is paid $68.00 per voting meeting, that serves when a regular member is unable to attend a meeting. Environmental Conservation Board

The Environmental Conservation Board (ECB) assists the Town Board with public awareness and education regarding the Town of Canandaigua’s natural resources and routinely reviews development projects in the Town of Canandaigua for potential impacts to natural resource protection. ECB members are involved in planning ECB meetings, project reviews, public workshops or events, etc. Applicants having a background in conservation, natural resource management, land use planning, or a related field are strongly encouraged to apply. ECB members receive a stipend that is paid quarterly. Parks and Recreation Committee Member

The Parks and Recreation Committee advises the Town Board on parkland and recreational needs along with making recommendations for improvements or expansions relating to parks and recreation. Committee members will also monitor the implementation of the adopted Town of Canandaigua Parks and Recreation Master Plan, including annual reporting to the Town Board, and propose amendments to the adopted park rules and regulations. This is a voluntary position and meetings are held 6:00pm on the 4th Wednesday of every month at Town Hall.
