Welcome to the Highway Department

The Town of Canandaigua Highway Department is responsible for the general maintenance of all the town-dedicated roads. This includes ditching, paving, tree and brush removal in the town's right-of-way, mowing roadsides and plowing and ice control during the winter months. In the spring and summer months we oil and stone roads, replace culverts, clean ditches and pave roads.

Superintendent Jim Fletcher coordinates the work for the crews and oversees the Highway, Water and Waste/Recycling Departments. He also works closely with the Director of Parks and Recreation on Park Maintenance.

The Highway department also:

Handles 149 Permits
Handles road sign work
Provides dead deer removal from town roadways
